You don’t know any Romanian, but you want to continue your studies in Romanian. That’s where preparatory courses come in handy. With the Romanian language preparatory year, you will learn the Romanian language and subjects related to further university study in an intensive 2-semester program. By taking a one-year preparatory course, you are about to embark on the most exciting journey of your life. However, the exact duration of the preparatory course depends on your level of study. If you intend to continue studying at the undergraduate level, the preparatory course will take a full year, but for postgraduate studies, this course will take six months.
In the first semester of the Romanian language preparatory year, which is also called the Romanian language course, your focus is only on the Romanian language. In the second semester, your conditions will be different, and you will acquire the requisite knowledge of the Romanian language and specific knowledge correlated with your future training profile. For instance, if you are studying medicine in Romania, you will also study subjects like biology and chemistry during the preparatory year.

So that from the fourth year onwards, you will speak Romanian fluently. From the fourth year ahead, you will continue your studies in Romanian. After all, this is necessary for you as your stay in Romania is not just about studying; knowing the language will help you communicate with your patients more efficiently.
The Romanian government has planned various programs and grants to help talented students study in their country. Therefore, if you are a citizen of the EU, EEA, or Switzerland looking to receive financial assistance from the Romanian government, you must be fluent in Romanian. Why? If you are looking to participate in preparatory classes and learn the Romanian language, you must first apply for the study you would like to follow in Romania. Almost all courses in Romania start between September 15 and October 15. Depending on how long your preparatory course lasts and which center you study at, this date may change. Therefore, the best time to apply is early August.
