Brief History of the Faculty of Medical Engineering at Politehnica University of Bucharest

The Faculty of Medical Engineering (FIM) of the POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest (UPB) was formed in 2010 by the merger of the Departments of Bioengineering and Biotechnology (DBB) and Physical Education and Sport – Physiotherapy, which had previously operated as separate university structures.

FIM is an integrative structure with a synergistic role in promoting the fields of Bioengineering and Medical Biotechnologies at the university level through education and research, activities coordinated by teaching staff from several faculties of the university, in accordance with the UPB strategy regarding the role and importance of the field in economic and social terms, for the health of the population, and ensuring the quality of life. Interdisciplinary student training is geared toward the advancement and promotion of current biomedical equipment, devices, materials, and technology.

The continuation of the DBB, the Faculty of Medical Engineering, is distinguished by the high degree of interdisciplinarity of the teaching staff and the training programs given to students, which include components of technical sciences, informatics, precise sciences, and biological sciences.

Course Description
